What Happens When Time Stops?
By stephanie - Wednesday, April 4th, 2007
Just a question to throw out there:
In the Twilight Zone episode where the guy has the stopwatch that stops time, what ultimately happens when his stopwatch breaks?
Has he now stopped time forever, leaving all people in the world in a state of suspension?
Will time start again when he himself dies?
Will he even die at all? Are his bodily functions and needs put on hold now that time has stopped?
If he does need food and water, will he still be able to eat and drink whatever is frozen in time?
Or, is there a failsafe device on the stopwatch, meaning that, while he is forever frozen in that one spot of time, after a certain period, the rest of the world will start up again, and he will just “disappear”?
Of course, this is only a TV show…

I’ve wondered something simular about Hiro’s power to stop time on Heroes. When he stops time is it just a localized effect maybe a hundred yard radius? Or does he actually stop time on the entire planet or even the entire universe? That’s a pretty powerful thing if he is stopping time for the whole universe. Are there any negative effects of Hiro stoping and starting time for the whole space/time continuom thing? Too many questions. Makes my brain hurt.

Kinematics
motion
ΔX=Vt+(1/2)at^2 if t=0
ΔX=0
no motion
for light to reach earth there must be motion. if motion does not exist, light may not travel.
speed is related to time
E=m(speed of light)^2
If the world has no variable, then the law of physics would be a single constant, no variables. Derivative of a constant is zero, therefore no movement or change may occur if their is no Δt. No superhero may move in a world that is constant. I think, but i could be wrong.
