Thoughts on the New Farscape Webisodes

Sci Fi Wire recently announced that Farscape is coming back – but on the web only in the form of new webisodes! As a long-time Farscape fan, I don’t even know what to think!
Now, we all know this will not be the original Farscape. I seriously doubt Ben Browder or Claudia Black will be appearing. But I do think it’s kind of neat that we’re finally getting to see some new aspect of the Farscape universe. There’s so much there that was left unexplored. It’s also an interesting experiment in online television. Will future sci-fi shows be released on the web only? Probably.
So overall, my reaction is positive…I don’t have high expectations, but I am glad they are doing it. More Farscape. Amazing!

Pretty similar thought process here. For a long time now I’ve been hoping for networks to abandon the neilson dominated methods of media delivery and let us vote with our wallets. I’m really hopeful that this might be another sign that they’re starting to consider that sort of business model. Perfect hair forever, a rather less costly favorite of mine, is supposed to be making a come back in webisode form too.
But even more so, farscape! I’d given that up for dead so long ago at this point that it almost makes me wonder if closure could show up for carnival as well.

I’ll take farscape any way I can get it. You never know if this will be a ground swell to another tv movie (not a far fetched idea, depending on how well the SG tv movies do).

I totally agree. I’ll take Farscape in any form. What with the episodes being only 2 minutes long, maybe we will get to see some of the original cast. How long could it take to shoot 20 minutes of footage? Maybe if all the scapers tune in the day the series goes live, and totally overloads sci-fi’s webserver, Someone might take notice.
btw, nice blog.

I also love the idea of taking some of the power away from the nameless Nielsonettes who have shackled mainstream television with countless hours of horrifying reality television and carbon copy cop shows. But I never, in a million years, thougth Skiffy would have the good sense to actually revive Farscape in any form. Especially since they had no role (except in airing the complete product) of PKW. I’m just so tickled that I can’t keep from checking back daily to make sure that:
1. It’s not a dream
2. Any snippet of info on the possible storyline
But even if we see John and Aeryn toting tots and kicking tail…or Little D all grown up and following in daddy’s footsteps, Farscape will have my support all the way.
