Hello! (I do have a Website, but it isn't completed yet.) But anyway.... It is interesting to me, to read blogs like this one, after the fact. Diana was in the new "V" with her hair-style intact. There was a hybrid baby too! Both shows got cancelled too soon! Well, moving right along, this new "V" is like the new "Battlestar Galactica", in a certain context. When the pilot for the new Galactica showed old props form the old Galactica, it had me wondering if the new one shared the same universe as the old one. When Diana showed up in the new "V", I wondered if this was somehow a sign of the new show continuing the old one, but set in a parallel universe and/or alternate time line. The old "V" showed us those novel "mobile telephones" that the teenage girl had that even impressed an alien, while in the new "V", they are so taken for granted, it is annoying to me since I don't have one yet. (I was given an old-style one, but I never got it activated due to the cost being something like $500.00 to start it up again. Yes, it was a hand-me down.) I could go on and on, but I won't, except to say that I enjoyed seeing certain cast members again after their previous series were cancelled or they were written at, like Supergirl was for example.

I've also heard that Aaron Ashmore w / join the series in July. His character will ( temporarily, I hope ? ) take Myka's place as an ATF agent who can tell when someone is or isn't telling the truth. Mr. Ashmore also played Jimmy Olsen on " Smallville " before getting killed off.

I love the whole " Vibe " of " Warehouse 13 " ( aka WH 13 as well ). It takes elements from these other shows - Friday the 13th the Series, The Librarian from TNT, as examples - & adds a new spin on them. A couple of episodes even had in - canon cross - overs with Douglas Fargo from " Eureka " & Claudia from Warehouse 13.

I love that Monday nights on SyFy will feature both these shows, since " Eureka " has such slim, elegant, stream - lined solid state tech & WH 13 has slightly clunky, bulky, steam - punk designs & they deal with procuring, storing & neutralizing objects with paranormal properties.

Shows like these are the only reasons I've stayed with SciFi ever since they've " re - branded " the network, changed logos & added a bunch of " reality shows " & wrestling ( !! ) to their lineup.

I saw this movie in a haze in the early 90s, so it figures I would cite its political aspects to a woman I barely knew at a party, and get my head bit off for not acknowledging its supposedly rampant misogyny. While I probably need to see it again to be sure, this is what I remember to contradict your opinion on it.

First off, Don Johnson's character is written as an idiot being run by the dog. Don finds food for both of them, and kills crazies to protect both. The dog does 90% of the talking in the movie and all the planning. Don tells the dog he needs sex, and the dog reluctantly agrees, and then Don finds the very attractive Quilia June. I dont remember him raping multiple women in the movie, so maybe I need to resee it. I also remember him taking a while to get her in the sack, and them building a sort of alliance, which ultimately, does not supercede the alliance with the dog. Thus the title - A Boy and His Dog, not A Boy Falls in Love with A Girl.

The end, where Don makes a choice between her survival and his pals, is partly shock for the sake of a surprise ending, and, sure, a bros before ladies sentiment. People shouldn't confuse the shock of cannibalism with misogyny.

There's no gore. In fact, the whole thing is treated in a comedic light. Fact is, a movie that has a talking dog that does nothing but wag its tongue while dialogue is dubbed can't be taken THAT seriously.

But to call this movie rampantly mysogynist when it is mostly about post-apocalypse and a statement on the rotting core of conventional America is a bit much. It is certainly not a masterpiece, but a hard-edged underground movie from a time when people made weird movies they wanted to without worrying about splitting hairs for focus groups. It uses an attractive woman in skimpy clothes as a fantasy figure. By this measure, any movie with a hot female lead is misogynist.

After having sex a few times, she is eaten for food. Again, if she's really raped in the movie, then I'll change my statement, but I remember the movie being WAY lighter than that.

Fact is, entertainment is targeted for genders, ages, etc. There's all sorts of preposterous romantic comedies out there for women which deify handsome tall leading men, while openly mocking 'lesser' men. Get over yourselves. Women are as competitive and ruthless and insensitive as men.

There is NO comparison - old V wins hands-down everywhere you look (sexy women/expansive plot/cast etc.). The new version seems to be cheaply made and is rather boring).

i just finished watching the 1997 mini series and i absolutely loved it. in my opinion it was a whole lot better than the 1980 movie. i mean they were both very good but i'm more the scary movie type. my favorite character is the lady in the bath. i loved the "hair and make-up" on her. i'll definately be having nightmares tonight. the casting was perfect and i loved the ending that was different from the book. it wasn't a word-for-word adaption, give it some credit. anyway i really liked it and would recommend it to anyone that's just a little bit bored on a Saturday night.

I read the book for the shining and loved it. when i watched the original movie (1980) i was a little disappointed. i do agree that Shelley Duvall was absolutely a horrible choice for the role and the movie could have been just that much better with someone else as the character. i have yet to see the 1997 mini series but have high hopes for it. i would rather see a word for word adaption from the book so i can see what that director got from the book and compare it to what i got.

Terrible Show.

I bought the DVD of the first half of season 1. What a joke. The description should have clued me in:

"...The danger, adventure, and hope they find on Destiny will reveal the heros and villans among them."

Really? Is this supposed to be Survivor In Space?

I totally agree. The idiotic 'Stones' have to go. No one wants to tune into a sci-fi series set three galaxies away and have 80% of the plotlines occur on Earth!

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The original movie is to its source material as Blade Runner is to its source material: a completely separate entity, great in its own way. It all boils down to whether you prefer a taut film with good-to-great pacing with a few liberties taken from the original book, or a straight-from-the-page, word-for-word adaptation.

I'll take the former.

I saw 1997 version when i was little. I loved it. After that I watched the other version too but it wasn't scary at all. I hated Shelley Duvall even if she played well. Jack Nicholson was magnificent.
However I can't compare these two movies. One was more psychological and the other one was scary.
